Overview

The Culture Care team recognised that the Sikh and Punjabi community has rates of diabetes and cardiovascular disease that are amongst the highest in Australia! At the Pop Up Clinic, volunteers engage community members in a fun way to encourage the entire family to participate in a basic assessment of vital signs. Basic non-invasive tests are conducted at the Pop Up Clinic including the assessment of Blood Pressure, Weight, Body Mass Index (BMI), Waist Circumference and Glucose testing. Doctors and nurses are in attendance and provide a one on one consultation with each person that comes through the clinic to review and assess the results and provide recommendations and tips of where to next.

Volunteer

General volunteers assist with the administering of the various non-invasive assessments after a briefing session conducted by the Culture Care team. Doctors, Nurses and Allied Health professionals also volunteer their time at the Pop Up Clinic to assist with consultations and assessments.
